Edouard Lavergne

 Edouard Lavergne was born close to Bordeaux in France. He graduated in Environmental Biology from the University of Wales Swansea in 2004. While working as technical coordinator at the Senckenberg Nature Museum and Research Institute in Germany, he received his Ph. D. (2012) in Marine Biology from the University of Western Brittany (France) on the subject “Estuarine fish biodiversity of Socotra Island (NW Indian Ocean) : from the community to the functioning of Terapon jarbua populations”. His research interests encompass coastal and estuarine ecology, especially fish population biology, coastal and estuarine habitat connectivity and functional biology of fish facing multi-stress in the context of climate change, eutrophication and increasing human activities. His work is achieved through a range of techno-logies and tools including : SCUBA-based survey and sampling; molecular biology (sequencing, genotyping and transcriptomics) ; Sclero-chronology and -chemistry. His work has applied aspects in coastal management and he has been involved in projects for governmental organizations (EPA, UNDP, GIZ) and the private sector (Total, YLNG, Thales).
