フィールド科学教育研究センター（以下、フィールド研）は2018年11月22日（木）、フィリピン・東ダバオ州立大学地域統合沿岸資源管理センターとの部局間交流協定を締結しました。今回、Edito B. Sumile 東ダバオ州立大学学長が来日する機会に合わせ、同センターで調印式およびSumile学長の講演会を開催しました。
調印式にはフィールド研から山下洋 センター長等9名が、東ダバオ州立大学からはSumile学長等3名が参加し、山下センター長及びSumile学長が協定文書に署名しました。続いて行われた講演会ではSumile学長が大学の概要について、Lea Jimenez 地域統合沿岸資源管理センター長がセンターの活動について、Emily Antonio 研究倫理室長が東ダバオ州の地勢と同地におけるこれまでの日本との共同研究について紹介しました。山下センター長をはじめとする聴衆は興味深く耳を傾けていました。
フィールド研では教育研究の柱とする「森里海連環学」をテーマに研究を行っており、フィリピン・ミンダナオ島における陸域と沿岸域の相互作用及び生態系連環に関する情報の集積を行ってきました。今回の協定締結により、東ダバオ州立大学地域統合沿岸資源管理センターと森里海連環学研究を推進していく予定です。
Field Science Education and Research Center (FSERC), Kyoto University and Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center-Region XI of the Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for Academic Cooperation and Exchange (MoU) on November 22, 2018. The signing ceremony was the highlight of President Dr Edito B. Sumile’s visit to Japan.
Nine members including Director Prof Yoh Yamashita from FSERC and three members, President Dr Sumile, Dr Lea Jimenez, Director for Regional Integrated Coastal Resource Management Center XI and Dr Emily Antonio, Director for Research Ethics Office from DOrSU attended the signing ceremony and Director Yamashita and President Sumile signed the MoU. The ceremony was followed by speeches from President Sumile, Director Jimenez and Director Antonio. They talked about the outline of DOrSU, the research activities of the RIC Center, the geographical features of Davao Oriental State and history of research collaborations with Japanese researchers respectively.
FSERC conducts researches into Connectivity of Hills, Humans and Oceans (CoHHO) as one of the main theme and has collected data of interaction between the land and coastal areas, and complex relationships of ecosystems. FSERC and DOrSU plan to promote the CoHHO researches based on the MoU.
