To ensure safety during the forest road maintenance operations, entry into the forest will be prohibited during the following period:
Forest Entry Prohibition Period: Until Friday, April 18, 2025
Please note that depending on the progress of the work, the entry prohibition period may be extended. If an extension is necessary, we will send another email as soon as the decision is made.
Deer hunting using firearms will be held on April 30 (reserve date: May 2) in the entire forest. You are not allowed to enter the forest regardless of the area.
Forest Entry Prohibition Dates: Wednesday, April 30, and Friday, May 2.
Please inform your co-users and others who may be involved. If you have any questions, please contact the Ashiu Forest Research Station. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
2024年8月6日に入林制限を解除しました。 The restriction on entry into the forest was lifted on August 6, 2024.
ツキノワグマの生息範囲ですので、引き続きクマ鈴の携行や単独行動を避けて入林をお願いいたします。早朝及び夕方の入林はお控えください。Since the area is inhabited by black bears, we ask that you continue to carry bear bells and avoid entering the forest alone. Please do not enter the forest early in the morning or in the evening.
Since June 23, Asian black bears have been frequently seen near the Ashiu Research Forest Office and on the premises every day.
A mother and child black bear were seen around the Yuragawa bridge (bridge of the trolley track) during the daytime on June 23. Child bears were also spotted on the Ashiu Research Forest premises at around 7:30 p.m. on June 24 and 10:30 a.m. on June 25.
Not only at night, but also during the daytime, they have been sighted on the premises, and since they are a parent and cub, the situation is more dangerous than before.
For the above reasons, we prohibit public access to the Bunanoki Pass and the trolley tracks until the situation improves. We ask for your understanding and cooperation for your safety.
During the day on Sunday, July 14, a parent bear was seen again near the Ashiu Forest Research Station office. The prohibition of entry to the forest is still in effect (added July 16).
