1. 研究分野
I 農村計画学・持続的農村開発論
専門は農村計画学・持続的農村開発論です。これまでは、地域が抱えている人口減少課題を、グローバル化のインパクトとICT利活用のインパクト等の影響要因を加えた地域社会の現状を国際的な視点から把握した上で、地域の人々の暮らしと考えを大事にしながら、地域社会の未来を支える社会システムをデザインする研究に取り組んできました。
1.1 ICT利活用による地域づくり
・中国農村地域におけるインターネットの利活用
本研究では、インターネットを新技術ととらえ、IT分野でユーザーの新技術受容行動を説明するモデル（技術受容モデル：UTAUTモデル，Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use Technology）を用いて、中国の農村地域を事例に、インターネット利用に対する農村住民個人の受容に影響を与える要因及び利用意図に影響を与える要因を明らかにしました。
・首都圏在住の移住希望者の移住情報収集行動
本研究では、首都圏(東京都、神奈川県、埼玉県、千葉県)在住の移住希望者を対象にして、移住希望者の情報収集の実態を把握した上で、移住意向による情報収集行動の差異を明らかにしました。
1.2 移住定住促進による地域活性化
・新規参入者の農地確保における仲介者の役割
本研究では、福島県南会津地域の「南郷トマト」の生産を行う新規参入者を事例として、農地資源に恵まれない中で新規参入者のためにどのように農地確保を進めたのかを、仲介者の支援内容と役割を中心に明らかにしました。
・首都圏在住移住希望者の地方移住要件と意向
本研究では、首都圏在住の移住希望者を対象にして、年齢(若者とそれ以外)と移住意向(意向の強弱)による移住希望者の移住要件の差異を分析することを通じて、移住希望者の移住要件を明らかにしました。
1.3 観光による地域づくり
・訪日中国人個人観光客の情報収集が観光ルート選定に与える影響
本調査研究では、近畿圏中国人個人観光客を対象にして、訪日中国人個人観光客における情報収集が観光ルート選定に与える影響を明らかにした上で、地方地域における中国人観光客誘致を目指した情報発信のあり方について検討しました。
II Animal behavior study
Due to human-induced rapid environmental change, animals are often exposed to novel situations (relative to their evolutionary history). Their response to new environments is thus increasingly important for species persistence. In particular, many animals are now exposed to direct human intervention, such as feeding by humans or human disturbance. A recent hypothesis is that these human interventions might affect the ability of animals to adapt to other ecologically important factors such as their food or predators. For example, animals habituated to humans might have reduced sensitivity to predation cues, reduced awareness of risk and thus enhanced vulnerability to their actual predators. Human feeding might also influence the animals’ response to other foods, including novel foods. These possibilities have received attention recently but have rarely been tested experimentally.
Based on those research backgrounds, I set up a series experiment to answer the following questions: (1) How does human intervention influence the response to predator cues? (2) How does human intervention influence the vulnerability to predators? (3) How does human intervention influence the response to novel foods?
I have completed a series of behavioral experiments on fish in the animal behavior laboratory of the famous Sih Lab in University of California Davis, US. At Seto Marine Biological laboratory, I work mainly on regional development, but I am also concerned with the ecology of fish and the impact of humans, especially tourists, on Marine life.

3月末から白浜町民です。瀬戸臨海実験所が大好きです。理由は、(1)通勤時間が徒歩3分です；(2)景色が綺麗すぎます；(3)時間が倍増した気がします；(4)専門分野と視野がさらに広げられます、と様々なメリットがあるからです。さらに、森も山も海も目の前に同時に存在する、素晴らしい景色が魅力的です。ぜひ瀬戸臨海実験所を訪問してみてください。
